Last Minute Christmas Present

Let me start this blog off by wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a very prosperous new year.

I'm absolutely delighted to have found out that the SWPP "society of wedding and portrait photographers http://www.swpp.co.uk/ have done their annual review on all the awards for 2016 and I have had upgraded one of my highly commended images to an outstanding Gold award.   It is such a lovely feeling to have an image judged by your peers and then given high praise.

Gold awards are normally given out to the top 2 % images on average within the SWPP awards system with over a 1000 images being put forward every month.

The Image is of Shane Moore, a very talented Ice Hockey player and has also played for Great Britain, which is an amazing feat. He has played for Swindon Wildcats but currently playing his hockey at Oxford City Stars.  Shane was a great person to shoot for these Sportraits, he is very passionate about his sport and quite obvious a fantastic sports person.

I get great pleasure from portraiture and especially sportraits or portraits of sporting people.   Having been a sports person for most of my life I can recognise the effort that these people can their sports careers and lives, as do other people with other passions in life.

This image was taken at my studio and captured with my Nikon D810, 50mm lens and a single shoot through 7ft umbrella with the Elinchrome ELB 400 lighting unit.

Hope you like it and thank must go to Shane and of course the SWPP judges for the upgrade in my award.
